Partnered Charity: Hatua Network, Mombasa, Kenya
Who? What? Where? Why? How?
How does it work?
For every student who signs up for termly tuition, we can commit to support more scholarship programmes for students in Kenya through Hatua Network. Our commitment is for long-lasting help with school fees and a sustained support for the entire scholarship programme.

The tuition side of 5 Kites Education is not-for-profit; this ensure that we can maximise fiscal support for Hatua Network.
Why Kenya?
In Kenya, only Primary Education is 'free' for all children, but the cost of uniform, text books, school lunches can be off putting for many families.

Step by step, Hatua Network aims to end generational poverty by preparing promising, low-income youth for the world of work.
Why Mombasa?
Amal and Becca met in Kenya in 2012, teaching in different schools in Mombasa. Now settled into family life, back in the UK, it has been an important part of 5 Kites to reconnect with their past and continue to use the privilege of their own education, opportunities and experience to help those for whom education is still a luxury.
Why Hatua?
Hatua Network is a charity that provides scholarships, mentoring and support to children from low income families. They have a long-view of assisting students through their entire education and beyond, including university life and preparing for the world of work.
What about a local charity?
All our teachers at 5 Kites Education have worked in the state sector, with a firm belief that good education should be available for all.

In 2017, Becca founded the weekly community playgroup, Books in the Woods, bringing together local families. Every session puts literature and nature at the centre, nurturing a love of reading and the outdoors from a very young age.

In 2019, Amal became a School Governor, volunteering his time and expertise to advise and support with the provision of Mathematics and English in local schools.
