How do the sessions work?

Tuition sessions happen online using thelessonspace.com. Once we have confirmed a time for the first session, you will be invited to a ‘room’ via a link. This link will then provide access for all future sessions. This Getting Started Guide is a useful starting point for students who sign up.

Why have we decided to use thelessonspace.com?

The platform is extremely intuitive and easy to use. It also has a high degree of functionality. The collaborative whiteboard Uses a variety of subject-specific multiplayer tools to teach visually on an infinite whiteboard. Upload your own worksheets, images or documents to annotate, or import resources directly from the Resource Library. Video and audio is supported, and lessons can be recorded meaning students can access the content at any time. See here for more information on what the platform offers.

Will I need to get any software or hardware for the sessions?

The platform runs through a browser so no extra software is required. In order for students to get the most out of the sessions, we highly recommend you have a tool which you can use to ‘write’ with. This will often take the form of a graphics tablet. This will allow our teachers to give real-time feedback to students. This link offers more information on what is needed.

Will I have the same slot every week?

If that is what works for you, then we will aim to do just that. Should you need any extra sessions then we can look to book those in at a mutually convenient time.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

We ask that you cancel 24 hours in advance. Should this time frame not be possible, then rescheduling the lesson may be difficult.

Will homework be provided after the session?

This is something that we will discuss in the first session. We believe that regular review aids understanding and mastery, and can also build confidence. Should it work for you, then some work between sessions will help us to maximise progress.

Do you support students out of sessions?

Should students wish to send in homework or should they have specific questions that they need support with, they can indeed reach out for feedback and we will provide this in a timely manner.

How will parents be kept informed of progress?

After every session a brief form will be sent to parents outlining what was covered, any progress made and any work due for the following session.
